Pure Fishing: ‘We support better line regulation’
The world’s biggest manufacturer of fishing tackle has added its voice in support of tighter regulations governing the labelling of fishing lines. EFTTA member Pure Fishing, which sells a huge range of lines to worldwide markets, believes that only by outlawing inaccurate claims will the industry give the angler a fair deal.

Italian show set to change dates
Italy‘s Bologne Show, one of Europe’s premier national fishing exhibitions, is likely to be moved from its traditional February dates in 2011. Despite the resounding success of the recent 2010 show, which attracted well over 50,000 visitors – more than doubling the attendance of the previous year – exhibitors have voted to change the timing.

EFTTEX on target to increase exhibitor numbers
EFTTEX 2010 is on target to have more exhibitors than last year after confirmed bookings reached 232 exhibitors. The figure is up from 205 at the same stage last year. With three months still to go, the current amount of floor space sold is 7,320 sqm, which represents a 3% increase on the 7,085 sqm sold at the same stage last year.

Book for the EFTTEX Business Reception
Demand is growing for tickets for the EFTTEX Business Reception on the Saturday of EFTTEX. Exhibitors that wish to attend this gala event are being urged to book their tickets soon.The evening also includes the EFTTEX Best New Product Awards ceremony, sponsored once again this year by Angling International magazine.

Last chance to advertise in the EFTTEX catalogue
EFTTA is taking last-minute bookings for advertising in the EFTTEX catalogue (deadline Thursday 1st April). The catalogue is handed out to all visitors at the show, guaranteeing exposure to active buyers for all three days.

EFTTA would also like to remind exhibitors and potential exhibitors for EFTTEX 2010 that sponsorship opportunities are still available but would urge them to sign up to avoid disappointment (deadline Friday 9th April 2010).

Extra incentive for 2010 award entries
There is an extra incentive to enter the EFTTEX Best New Product Awards for 2010. All entries will be showcased within the July issue of Angling International giving them increased exposure during the show and around the world. The issue will be handed out to all exhibitors and visitors during the show, as well as mailed to Angling International’s mailing list of 11,000 businesses. Details have yet to be finalised but each entry will be guaranteed editorial coverage within the showcase.

Valencia hotel bookings: a warning
EFTTA’s Sally Steel is warning EFTTEX exhibitors of an unofficial hotel booking company which is offering to find hotels in Valencia. Sally is advising exhibitors not to book with Convention Expo Travel.

Shimano and Rapala join forces for launch
Global tackle giants and EFTTA members Shimano and Rapala have come together to launch a new tackle range for the European market – and they have pinpointed EFTTEX 2010 as the key event to showcase the new products. Called Yasei after the Japanese word for ‘wild’, the new range is aimed at Europe’s predator anglers and will include rods, lures, hooks, braid and fluorocarbon as well as niche products that would not otherwise be in Shimano or Rapala ranges.

Youth Grant scheme update
The youth fishing projects that received sponsorship from EFTTA members and EFTTA are reporting positive results just fours months after being awarded their grants. The projects from all over Europe were approved for match funding from EFTTA in December 2009 to add to the support they had already secured from an EFTTA member. Now seven of those projects have reported back to EFTTA about the progress they have made. Keep an eye out for future reviews in forthcoming editions of Newslines.
